- I must write a post to show the award.
- I must write a brief story on how my blog started.
- I must give two pieces of advice to new bloggers.
- I must select 15 bloggers to pass this award on to.
- I must comment on each of their blogs to let them know they have been nominated for this award and provide a link to this post.
How did your blog start?
I have touched on this before in a previous post which you can read here, but for those of you who are new to my blog, here’s how I started. I’ve always wanted to write a blog. I feel like I have so much to say and not enough places or time to share it all. I always had a feeling I should write one, but honestly, fear was the only thing stopping me. I felt like no one would appreciate what I wrote, no one would read it, I wasn’t good enough to write.. The list goes on. Many a time these fears did stop me. It wasn’t until my husband encouraged me to write not for others but for myself, that I let go of my fears and just did it. Since writing, I have felt more empowered, freer and my mind is clearer. Blogging is my creative outlet to escape from myself and my thoughts and enables me to continue growing and developing who I am as a creator and a person in general.
What are 2 pieces of advice to new bloggers?
First of all, I would encourage new bloggers to write for themselves and write what makes them feel happy and fulfilled. Bloggers can be bombarded with so many posts about what you should be writing about, what your posts should include, how you should format your posts and other content like that, and while it can be helpful, it’s not the only way blogging can be successful. What your blog consists of should be what you want it to be and what you want to put out into the world and you shouldn’t be influenced otherwise by what others say is the best for you and your blog.
Second, I would say be yourself. I suppose this goes along with my first piece of advice but I believe it’s the best advice I can give. You will get readers not based on SEO, hashtags, key words and other blog jargon, but rather you will get readers because of you and your content. They will come for you and they will be authentic and real just like you.
